Uncomfortable Situation

Hi,

I had a guest stay a few times over the past couple of months. The longest stay was 4 days. Something was off with him and he seemed to be between homes and wanted to stay longer term. I couldn't accommodate him as I have bookings. I told him he would just have to check the calendar. Anyway, he booked again, just 1 night, and included a link to his Website. Being nosey I went and had a look and see he has used my home address as his own! He has a FB link so I follow that and he has listed my address as his own on there too! I do a search for my home address and it comes up on lots of other websites as his contact address.

I called Airbnb who cancelled without penalizing me and they cancelled the wrong guest! They've now cancelled the right one but haven't unblocked the other and the guest wants to rebook but can't.

What should I do?

@Nicola224 you should contact them again to unblock the guest.

Nicola, I'd also be inclined to contact the local Police and have a chat, make sure it's on there records as you don't know what things may have happened in this person's past or what else they are capable of.

The last thing you need is this kind of carry on in a place that you are entitled to feel safe & have your personal safety.

@Huma I recall started a topic on receiving mail at one's home address, this is similar & unacceptable.

Use related keywords in the search box here in CC.

Meanwhile, reach out to your neighbours, if you get on well with them, & provide a description of the person so they don't try come around unsolicited, although Police, as part of there Duty of Care can ask them to keep away from your home & contacting you under various laws including Online legislation

Take care

All the best

Thank you, Helen. Airbnb have been really good. CS called me this morning. The unwanted guest has been escalated to their Security Team. I've sent them screenshots and links to the guest's Websites. I've requested the unwanted guest remove my address from his Website and advertising sites. He's also got a business on FB with my address. I shall contact them too. I've spoken to the hosting company supplying his Website and are waiting to receive a call back. I've contacted the sites where he's advertising using my address.

Airbnb have now sorted out the wanted guest that I didn't want cancelled so that's good.

I will certainly contact the Police. It's good advice. Thank you very much.

I hope your situation was resolved too?
