Uninvited Guest

Hello,

I am hosting the same guest for the second time.

For the second time, he brought a lady in without telling me. I know because I heard their voices.

This morning he left the door open and found these items on his desk.

What do I do?

He said he wants to come back for a longer period, what do I do if he books?

thanks!

@Elena908 A knife, a club, I would not be happy either.  Seems very odd.

by way of an update... the guy left today after he offered to pay for his girlfriend to stay the two remaining nights and I asked him to pay £20 extra.

He did not tell me he was leaving, I found the keys at home and an empty - and dirty - room. So I sent him a message, and he responded saying that he'd left because they could not sleep last night as the room was too hot - we are having a heatwave in London - and the room was not worth the price! (this being £24 per night).

Bear in mind that I did provide a fan for the room, and I am not a hotel, so air con is not an option! He also said about the price, however this is the second time he stayed!

The problem is he thought he'd get away with paying for one person only, and when challenged, didn't like it.

To report?

@Elena906  Hit the flag on his profile and report him. I would be preemptive and contact AirBnB first.

Also tell Airbnb that the guy brought weapons into your home. Maybe the knife and the stick were part of the sex games, but it's a weapon nonetheless. It's not like he was there for a hunting trip in London.

At least he's gone~~~Good riddance!  I agree with the opinions that when you review the guest, give him less than 3 stars for all categories and thumbs down (do not recommend).

Also during the review process you can send a message to Airbnb only (not public review, not private message to guest) and you should tell Airbnb in detail about why this guest made you so uncomfortable, not that Airbnb will actually do anything but just for the record.

Thank you, I am awaiting to hear back from them.

It's a Japanese chefs style knife and a sharpening rod. I also see a hat and a bandana and I assume probably the guy is chef 99% and not into weirdo Sex games also it's not a club or a hunting knife..and you had no right too boo inside the room even if the doooor was open

I disagree. It is my house, where I live with my children. I did not go into the room but if I see a knife in it I have every right to be worried, whatever the use.

And I have also found blood on the bed sheet.

@Julia681

Any decent chef would never leave their chef knife on the table out in the open like that.

@Elena906

You should add in your house rules that the host *may* have to enter the guest room in their absence if windows are open or lights/electronics are left on or if there is potential for damage or in case of emergency to give yourself a loophole to enter the room.

I did not enter the room, I went to close the door and saw the stuff, as the desk is near the door.

Anyway, this is not the whole point of it all.

He sneaked someone in and when I politely asked him, he said he would pay the additional charge to the leave without a word and then blame it on the room being hot and the fan broken. An obvious lie as the fan is perfectly working.

@Jessica-and-Henry0  Sometimes when I am going to a friends house for a stay I bring a few  knives as I know they have crappy ones lol and I'll be cooking the whole stay usually. I just throw them in my check in luggage with no issues. NO cook or chef would leave a knife out like that if it's used for cooking prep. Here's the one I ended up buying for travel:

@Letti0

Exactly~ I had a few acquaintences who were chefs or attended culinary school in the past and they always had separate travel cases for their knives, NEVER left them laying around or let other people use (touch) their knives.

@Jessica-and-Henry0@Letti0    I feel the same about my sewing scissors- cut paper with them, you die.

@Sarah977  I can so agree with this one. They think I am nuts, but these scissors have a purpose and they are not designed for thier purpose lol...
