Hello
Recently I have been receiving emails and messages from this company called 'IDfy' who say are providing verification services for Airbnb. On clicking on the link, I am being asked to upload a Government ID proof and postal address. They say they will visit the property as well to confirm. Also, that if I do not verify by May 15th my listings on Airbnb will get deactivated.
Is this a legitimate service? I do not wish to upload my ID proof and address proof if it's unsecure.
Please help.
Thanks
Hi Jyothi,
I would like to confirm that IDfy is a legitimate company and is AirBnB's third party verification provider. You may check out the confirmation provided by AirBnB's Online Community Manager - Lizzie on here: https://www.airbnb.co.in/help/article/1289/i-m-a-host-in-india--what-should-i-expect-from-the-host-v...
AirBnB has also provided information on IDfy and the partnership on this link: https://www.airbnb.co.in/help/article/1289/i-m-a-host-in-india--what-should-i-expect-from-the-host-v...
Hope this helps!
Regards,
Ritesh
Really helpful response @Ritesh3, thank you!
@Jyothi0, Ritesh is right that IDfy is a legitimate company working with Airbnb. There are a couple of threads discussing it in the Community Center - I would recommend looking at this one (I think Ritesh meant to include this link above) https://community.airbnb.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/Community-Help-EN/thread-id/2172... - as well as Lizzie's confirmation that it is legitimate, if you look at page 2, another host has posted information he received from the Airbnb office in India about IDfy.

Hello @Jyothi0,
Welcome to the Community Center and thanks for checking about this.
Just to add to what @Ritesh3 and @Kirstie have mentioned here, I also wanted to let you know that I have just posted an overview regarding the IDfy verification process here in the Community Center, including some FAQs. Here is the link: IDfy Verification Process in India.
I hope this is useful and thanks for your help with this.
Lizzie
