Verification of ownership

Verification of ownership

There seems to be no security checks or verification of the ownership of the property. What is stopping anyone from putting up some photos and collecting money for someone else house? I am listed with another site which requires you to prove ownership with rates notices etc.

Hi @Debbie13

Unlike some websites the "Host" only gets the payment 1 day AFTER the guest check-in...
No home, no honey...

Airbnb would shut down the listing on the first guest to arrive and find a empty lot or a nonexistent address... despite guest and Airbnb head ache nobody will walk away with the money...

There's no process for verification of ownership... Lots of folks are renting a room (or a couch) on an apartment they are already renting, some are managing places for friends and some are doing a living out of it... There's a super host with a couple houses close to mine, he has over 400 listings, I don't think he owns that much houses... https://www.airbnb.com/users/show/9296727

This other host with over 500... https://www.airbnb.com/users/show/39155874

They are managers taking care of someone else property...

They don't shut down the fake property for rent. I have first hand experience of such a situation. And still the property is up for more disappointments by people searching. I will never use it again.
