Why No Full Refund?

Hello,

Recently, I had to cancel a reservation due to changes in my trip and itinerary. My host offers a full refund up to five days prior to the reservation date. I went through the cancellation process but at the end of it Air BnB still took out a few dollars from my refund.

It wasn't much but I'm trying to figure out why they took anything when my host has a full refund policy and I canceld 24 days in advance?

The reservation was for a place in Amsterdam, by the way.

Any help is appreciated.

@Natasha70 I'm guessing it's the Airbnb fee that wasn't refunded to you.

Hi Natasha. refunds always depend on the cancellation policy selected by the host. if it's a flexible cancellation policy and reservation is cancelled 24 hours before check-in, you will certainly get full refund. You can contact Airbnb through messgae, email or phone call for better assistance.

Thank you!

Any payment a guest makes is made to Airbnb, not the host. The host is paid only after the guest checks in. What Airbnb means about full refund is the host gets nothing.....and any amount not refunded is kept by Airbnb, not the host.

The payout to a host is issued by Airbnb the day after guest check in, and the money arrives in the host's account 3~4 days after the payout.

Thank you. It completely makes sense now. All the best.
