@Fash0 Interesting question. I'd love to go to Iran! Do the people in Iran have full access to the internet or is it controlled by the government?
@Clare0 I'm not sure exactly what restrictions exist in the internet usage in Iran as i have not been there for over a decade. If im not mistaken they are easing restrictions as a new reformist and more libral government has come to power. The truth of the matter is Iran is much safer then many wartorn countries that do have Airbnb coverage. (Afghanistan, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Lybia etc.) with all due respect to these countries this is not fair or just. This is a small example of unfair practices by people in power. Just check the Internet and the media (even the biased media) and you will not see any complaint of any foreigners, any news on any terrorism within Iran (specially targeting foreigners) and any other negetive stories that has ever affected tourists in that country. I am confident airbnb will soon start over there and the beautiful stories of the Iranians hospitality and humanity will be open to view. Amen
@Clare0 FYI the different traditional music from each province in Iran can be heard on this video. The fact is in the Iranian or parsi history and culture the different music represents the different foreign or local tribes that had settled in that location and were welcomed and became Iranian nationals. check the video out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZnHd0jgH2k
@Fash0 Let's hope that Airbnb will come to Iran. My mother, now 93 years old, travelled to Iran some 20 years ago and found it to be a very interesting country and culture. One of the oldest civilizations on earth!
Hi dear Clare.
I live in Tehran,Iran. Yes, Ofcourse people have full accsess to internet here. It's only Airbnb policies to not let Iranian be hosts or to use Airbnb as guests, unfortunately...
I hope you travel to Iran some day very soon, it sure is a beautiful country.
The government in Iran has no problem with Airbnb, they would actually welcome it since they would want visitors. the Airbnb website opens up in Iran swell, but the service is not provided due to US Sanctions. Last time I was there i couldn't even login to my account due to the same reason, even though my property is in California and my bank is also bank of america. I have reported this issue, but all i heard back was that due to sanctions we cant allow you to login from any I.P.s in Iran, so i had to use a VPN that would give me an I.P. in Europe for me to be able to manage my property. Just so you know, I cant even pick Persian as my second language on my profile, or choose Iran as my country of Origin. To be honest I feel a very strong sense of discrimination toward where I'm from and It's extremely frustrating that Airbnb would do this since Airbnb always praises it self on promoting diversity.
@Fash0 @Mostafa34 There are companies that offer homestays and STRs in Iran. For example here.
