Why is a service fee credit being taken out of our earnings?

Hi all,

I have a booking request - the guest is being given a service fee credit for $30, but it looks to me as though the $30 would be taken out of our earnings. Can anyone explain this to me? When I put the dates & numbers in, there is a $119 service fee - why isn't the $30 being taken out of that?

Ordinarily, we should earn $1028 for this booking ($927 plus $101 cleaning fee), but it shows $997, so the $30 credit is being given to the guest from our earnings. We have no discounts & never have had.

Now, $30 isn't a great amount and we will likely go ahead with this - but I'm wondering what's going on.

Thanks for any help!

Karen

@Karen-and-Brian0 Hi guys - you pay a service fee to AirBnB, plus your guest pays a separate booking 'service' fee - both are calculated differently. Your guest is not receving a credit from your payment.

Does that answer your question . .... not sure?

Hi @Gerry-And-Rashid0 Thanks! DOH! Of course, you're right, I am really not thinking today.

Cheers,

Karen
