hello fellow airbnbers,
I listed my room in July and have been really satisfied with the results. We have been practically fully booked for 4 months straight. but the other week, I had to block 8 days for my parents who were coming to visit me from home, so I needed the extra bedroom to accomodate them. now all of a sudden, for the first time in 4 months, we havent gotten not even 1 inquiry from potential guests. I feel as though airbnb has buried my listing because of those blocked days, since they couldn't profit from fees that could have been made for that week. It is strange that when I had alot of activity going on, the inquiries and requests were non-stop, and all of a sudden, dead silence? I know it could aslo be the month of November, but it feels like the streets are packed with more tourists now than in the summertime. I even tried editing my listing so it could possibly show them I am still here, and still active... Any ideas??
@Trinity-And-Cristina0 Be sure to check your Stats to see if your listing is being viewed. That can be an indicator about the general search for listings like your. If you see high views and low inquiries, that is more about your listing and you might want to make some marketing changes. Look on this site for discussions about marketing. There is some excellent ideas proposed by very knowledgeable hosts.
Hi @Linda108 yup, check the stats often and all of a sudden I've noticed a huge plummit in views. Up until october, there was alot of viewings per day, now im lucky to get more than 5. something is definitely up and I have been reading the forum where people have been complaining about this new instant booking feature (which I dont have on) so im assuming its being caused by this. this system is getting more and more flawed
There is a great suggestion in Host Voice at the moment https://community.airbnb.com/t5/Host-Voice/Text-string-added-to-search-filters/idi-p/241171 . Basically, it means using keywords to help find right listings. This would be more and more useful as more listings come onto the scene. If someone is wanting a particular thing they will find the best listing easily. Go and give it a tick if you want the best placement for your unique listing!
Let's say you are an aviation fanatic liking ultra modern buildings and want to plan your trip to spend it with people of a similar interest. Or in my case, hosts who like tango, art and live in old houses are my favoured choice. All our listings and profiles are different and will show up in listing order differently if keywords could be used! Do us all a favour and tick the suggestion!
@Sandra126 sounds good, I will definitely give this host voice a thumbs up! thanks for you reply!
