We just started airbnb rental business located in Isle of Palms South Carolina. We recently received a letter from the city asking us to pay accommodation tax (4%). We thought the airbnb takes care of the taxes because the guest pays airbnb 14% tax at time of booking. When called aiabnb, they suggest to collect 4% more taxes from the guest. Does any one have the same problem? Thank you.
Airbnb is allready charging on your behalf the following taxes to guests:
General Sales and Use Tax (Charleston)
Accommodations Tax (South Carolina)
General Sales and Use Tax (South Carolina)
Which can be seen on your listing.
If the "accomodation tax" you refer to is something different or extra, Airbnb HELP does some suggestions:

Hope this helps,

Hi Doug, did you ever figure this out? We have a place in Mt. Pleasant and were told we need to pay County of Charleston 2% and Town of Mount Pleasant 1%. Not really sure the best way to calculate and/or if you rolled the cost into your listing?
