clothes iron water stains

clothes iron water stains

A guest complained that his white dress shirt was stained after using the iron and ironing board that we provided. He was attending a wedding during his visit. Can you suggest a statement that will advise guests to 1. drain the water from the clothes iron before using; 2. use distilled water in the iron.

Should the host be financially responsible for guest's water stain in this situtation? Thanks

I can't imagine why you would be financially liable- if a guest doesn't know how to use an iron properly, they shouldn't be using it. For the future, you might prominently post a notice wherever you keep the iron and ironing board, instructing guests to drain any leftover water from the iron and to use the distilled water (which you should provide- no guest is going to run out to buy distilled water when they're getting ready for a wedding) , otherwise their clothes could be ruined by rust stains. Then it's totally on them.

I always check the iron inbetween guests to make sure it doesn't contain left over water.

Having said that I can't imagine how water would stain a shirt?

If you want guests to use distilled water, then you will need to leave this for them with the iron.

Hello @Shawn65,

Nice to meet you.

I'm sorry to hear about this. I was wondering if you could let us know if you were able to sort everything out?
