discount on changed reservatiom

our listing gives a discount for a weeks stay, I had someone book for 6 nights and then add the 7th later, the site did not give her the discount.  how should we be doing this so it gives her the discount.  I just had her cancel the reservation and rebook it for the 7 nights, but I am now running into this again and really need to know how to do this!

Just change the price manually to the right amount, when using the change reservation option.

she already just changed the reservation and I accepted it, is there any way to change the price now and if so how?  I have looked it over and not really found a way, I guess I could just refund the amount of the discount or just leave them a nice gift certificate for a local restaurant?
