Most of my guests are super respectful and strip the bed, take out garbage, etc. as I suggest in my rules that "if they have time . . . " So, a recent guest and his partner filled up my exterior garbage can (with crap they no longer wanted from their prior camping trip) - I have twice/month pick up service and a small bin, left all inside garbage, recycle containers full and perhaps most disturbing is that he shaved and left a disaster in and around the bathroom. The whole state of the place felt very disrespectful. I'm struggling with how to write a review (they were in no rush to leave - in fact, he was yapping my ear off about politics and I excused myself to go to work). any suggestions? Def not the kind the guests i want back, but in the big picture not thiefs, 24/7 partiers or the like . . . am i being too picky?
@Lauren259 Better than guests who partied, damaged items, smoked, brought extra guests, not willing to follow house rules, filthy and messy causing extra cleaning work, zero communication, complained everything, wrote reviews with lies, canceled and requested full refund after checkin...
@Lauren259 Just leave an honest review, no need to go into excruciating detail, but covering the transgressions in a concise and simple way. Leaving a shaving mess in the bathroom, though, is just part and parcel of what hosts have to deal with- there are some super clean guests and some really messy ones. You have to thoroughly clean the bathroom, anyway, so what does it really matter?
If a guest treated your place disrespectfully, I think that needs to be clear to other hosts, it's not necessary for them to trash the place, demand refunds, etc for them to be unwelcome guests. But if the only issues were filling the trash with their camping garbage and leaving the bathroom dirty, I'd give appropriate stars (i.e. low for cleanliness), a simple review that other hosts can read beteen the lines of, and not give it another thought.
Knock off a star or two for cleanliness.
I'm generally a happy camper if guests don't smoke inside my guest suite (no smoking allowed) and they don't break my expensive frosted glass closet doors.
