how do i abbreviate guest's stay and issue a partial refund?

Hi, all. Our guests wish to abbreviate their stay by several days. We agreed to be soft on our cancellation policy and issue them a partial refund. Does anyone know how can we both open the days on our calendar and issue them the partial refund?

@Jamie-And-Shannon0 In this case, you can alter the reservation and reduce the number of nights.  The guests would then be refunded automatically.

See this link to see how you do this:

If the guest has left already and you want to refund them a portion of their stay, you can do this through Airbnb's Resolution Center:

Thanks, Clare. I should be more clear. We are refunding them half. So we want to open 5 nights and refund them for 2.5 nights.

@Jamie-And-Shannon0 So just so I understand, are the guests staying 5 nights but you want to refund the cost of 2.5 nights?  Or, are they actually cancelling 2 nights of their stay so that your calendar will be unblocked?  Details...details...!

The guests booked 14 nights. They are staying 9 nights. We want to refund them 2.5 nights and open the 5 nights on our calendar. Thanks!

@Jamie-And-Shannon0. This is a bit tricky since you are not refunding 5 nights that they are cancelling, but what you can do with the alteration tool (the link I sent) is alter the number of nights from 14 to 9 nights and, at the same time you can adjust the amount for the entire stay.  This will enable Airbnb to issue a refund and open the dates that they are not staying.

So, for example, if the original reservation cost (excluding Airbnb's service fee and Occupancy taxes) was $1,450 and you want to refund $500, you can change the price of the stay to $950 when you make the alteration to the reservation.

Give it a try!

Then you use the change or cancel tool to adjust the number of nights. The system will suggest a price that you can adjust to the one you have agreed on.
