unless the house rules state that infants are charged.

@Richard1294  be careful if you accept infants - they can bring up to 5 infants for free even when the total number of adults + infants exceeds the total number of guests you can host. You may have a problem with your insurance, building regulations, etc...

I have in my Summary of the listing that INFANTS are counted as one person, therefire are paid.

I have just had a request to book for a family with a child and an infant. I wrote to the guest first that he should pay for the infant, and that I will accept him but he has to agree on my conditions. I even copied what is in my Summary about infants - and send him this. On top of this he wants to enter 3 hours before the check-in time! I told him I will do all possible to allow them to enter 2 hours before - and that is also my condition for booking - and if he agrees - he can book.

I wrote - I will accept you - but you have to alter the number of guests. He booked straight away - did not alter the number of guests, I made a request number of guests to be changed. But he has to AGREE - and obviously he would not! And I am fed up of infants 3-4-5 years old!!! How should I know how really old is the little one? What can I do?

  1. contact Airbnb to alter or cancel this reservation .
  2. change your house rule to "no infants" and allow only children 2-12
  3. state in a text that you will allow infants if they are booked as children/adults and charged as all other guests

ps....  they seem to be a nightmare guests... didn't read your listing, didn't accept your alteration, ignoring you , ask for early check in... I would tell Airbnb that I don't feel comfortable to host them.

@Lilly28  I do not see in your House Rules that children and infants are charged as a full person. I believe that is where AirBNB needs to see this charge in order to assist you.

It is for the first time I insisted what is written in my listing about infants - to be strictly followed. And - fortunately - the guest agreed!!! Well - I had to wait a bit, I told him he can cancel free of charge and search for a better deal... But so many times I had infants 3-4 even 5 years old without to pay me. And the work is much more for an infant...

@Susan151

It has to be written in the Summary of the listing! And my Summary is so short - you cannot miss it. Then in the House rules - additional ones - I also has this - stressing that not counting an infant as a person - the guest can be denied access to the flat - as there is a rule - no more guests then booked. This guest already had 15% off - well, now I am pleased and I will continue to ask infant to pay as they are real burden - not because the mess after them, but to bring in the cot and make it the special way so that the infant would comfortably sleep, to bring the change table, the baby bath, the baby shampoo...

@Lilly28  to avoid all this back and forth just uncheck infants option so your guests will have to book and pay for an infant like for a child.
