Hi There! I'm wondering if anyone might know why a listing would go from being consistently on the first page of search results in my area to the last page? Our listing has superhost status, 100% response rate, all positive reviews with 5 stars.
We work hard to maintain a great space and experience for guests.
Suddenly, I've noticed our listing is showing up 9 pages down in the search, beside listings that have no reviews. 😞
Any ideas??
Thank you for responding! Thats too bad, I thought ones ranking in the search engine was based on reviews etc
Think Airbnb try to promote new host coming up. I got same issue many times.
Hi One thing I can tell you is that it most certainly is not random! Airbnb will use complex computer programs "algorithms" to decide rankings using criteria which are their trade secret. If they are promoting poor properties with bad hosst at the expsence of superhosts with good properties and 5* reviews to give everyone a "slice of the cake" then that is very, very wrong and unfair.
So what did you do to correct the "low listing". I have not had any booking for Nov.
Us too - we have been with Airbnb for just over a year with one beachside villa in Sanur, Bali. In that time we have had 11 5* reviews, ( from every Airbnb guest that has stayed) 100 per cent response rate and have been given superhost status. But we seem to just sink lower and lower in the rankings. As of today anyone looking for a "whole home/apartment" in Sanur with no preferred dates will be presented with 17 pages of entries - we are on page 16!! It seems every great review is not rewarded but punished. We currently have no November bookings which is not a surprise considering the way we are being treated by Airbnb at present.
same here!
I am having the same problem. I only discovered this when my sister in law was trying to book one of my 3 listings for 4 people for Thanksgivng. 2 of them were available for the 2 days she asked for and BOTH 2 bedroom listings never showed up at all. My 1 bedroom showed up almost at the very bottom.... I have over 123 reviews, no bad reviews and have been a super host for a year.... So i had other friends try to do the same.... and same results occurered. Feeling sad...
This seems to be happening a bit at the moment, I am guessing they are reworking the search algoritms. I was not showing at all a little while back (and I mean not at all, not even on the map) and when I rang the staff said they were doing some broad changes which may have affected my visibility temporarily. I am back, but not always showing correctly (sometimes my IB shows, sometimes not).
Maybe in a little while the search will settle again when they have completed their modifications? Very disappointing all the same. Hopefully this is not the permanent state of affairs. I realise they tweak and tweak constantly. Sometimes even for the good!
Hi everyone
This is indeed a technical glitch which I have been trying to sort out with my listing for over a month during which time I haven't had an inquiry - let alone a booking after a very active year.
BNB came back to me today and told me it was fixed . I was so excited, but that was shortlived, I checked up my listing to find not only had they not fixed it but they had made it worse.
All year I had been on page 1-3. Over the last month I have been on page 8 - 10.
Today I have dropped even further to page 15.
I cannot believe this is happening.
BNB need to get their act together.
I found if I changed my price, meaning lowered my price, my listing would go back to page one as a new listing.
Try that. I only reduced my price say $2.00 less per night.

The very worst way to search for your listing is to do a simple, no date, no guest count search. Airbnb's search function can't possibly know what you are looking for since it assumes you are a guest looking for accommodation. In Paris there are 80,000 Airbnb listings. If a host were to look for their listing without any filters, they'd be singing with the angels before they found it. And even if they did, whether it was on the first page or the last page would be meaningless.
A host in Paris would have to search as a guest would by using filters for location, property type, dates, price range, number of guests, amenities and facilities. And, it would be best to search in incognito mode since I'm sure the search function believes that as a host you're not likely to book your own place and so will display it down the list.
The results you see when using filters are the real search placement results. How your listing is placed depends on these factors:

For those of you who would like to spend an hour or so on this subject, here's a You Tube video of Airbnb engineers discussing how they program the search function. It's pretty technical, but at the same time gives you an idea of what the software priorities are.

You might fall asleep watching this but it is interesting.
