penalty

I am an Airbnb host, I canceled a reservation because the guest wanted to bring a friend, but my rule clearly states the room is for one guest. Now Airbnb penalized me by blocking those days which were reserved by the individual. what is your opinion on this matter?

@Dale86 As Solveig says. Never ever cancel a reservation from your side. Always ask the guest to cancel and if you need to cancel because of situations like this then always contact airbnb. They can read the communication between you and your guest and see that it was the guest that wanted to bring an extra guest against your rules. Contact airbnb ASAP and they can solve the problem. Also now you got a message on your listing telling upcoming guests that you have cancelled on a guest - not a good thing. Airbnb can delete that message aswell when you contact them.

Sorry about that. First of all - never cancel a booking 😄 If something like this happens again - talk to airbnb customer service, tell them that the guest is breaking your rules and ask them to cancel the booking for you.

What I would do now, is to forward the case to airbnb customer service and let them know what happened, that you didn't know the system, and ask them to unblock the dates.

I just contacted Airbnb, thanks.

Dear Manager
In the wake of nCoV-19 i had to cancel two recent bookings each of them coming from Germany and Thailand. All i am doing is following the state and central government's statutory warning or rather an appeal to all the guest houses, bnbs, hotels etc.
as we know it is a Pandemic and i am being charged $100 for cancelling the reservations which i am doing to save more and more people get infected. Hope my case is not so difficult to understand
thank you

@Prof--Darshan0  There is no manager here- this is just a discussion forum for hosts and guests, not Airbnb itself. You need to contact Airbnb directly and explain the reasons for the cancellations. You should never cancel yourself- you should always contact Airbb to do it for you, if you have a reason they consider to be valid, they can cancel it without any penalties to you.
