"Verify your ID" will not complete its process

One of the steps to creating a complete profile as a host on AirBnB asks for the host to upload a scan of some type of government ID. I scanned and uploaded my passport. That was about an hour ago. The message in the window for "Verify your ID" says "Sometimes ID verification can take longer than expected. Please hold tight here — this shouldn't take more than a minute or two. Thanks!" I don't think I will leave this window open to complete the operation much longer. How can I complete this process successfully? Is it that much of a requirement for an AirBnB host?
