I have a reservation on thursday in the emi room! but we had a family emergency, a family member passed away and I wonder if I can cancel

Yes you can cancel but don't do that by yourself, you should contact Airbnb support and ask them to cancel due to "extenuating circumstances" . They may ask you to submit some proof about it ( death certificate or something)
