Quite new on hear, had a few lovely guests.  The question for me today is I had someone book at very short notice for their parents to stay for one night.  I rushed around and prepared the room and spent several hours cleaning and preparing etc.  I only had a very short time to do this and had my partner staying for a long weekend too and put on hold for the day some of the things we were going to do.  The booking said the guests would arrive between 3 - 4pm so after a manic couple of hours we waited - and waited - and waited.  Sent some enquiry texts stating that we were worried and it was now nearly 7pm and still no sign of guests and we were going out in the evening at 8.30pm to watch my brother play in his band.

Finally late afternoon the next day the booker left a message to say apologies for the lack of communication but his Mum had had a car accident so he had been rushing around sorting this out.

I texted back to say sorry to hear this and hoped his Mum was ok and that she would get better quickly.

Under these circumstances and after discussion with my partner we both decided that my thoughts were to not leave feedback as it was somewhat awkward and the fact that I had replied to the eventual communication saying I hoped that everything would soon be resolved.

Trouble is the system keeps prompting me to leave feedback for this visit - if I just don't leave anything will it be detrimental to me or them?

Ignore it for two weeks & you will no longer be prompted for feedback. It will not be detrimental to either Host or Guest.

You can provide feedback in the form of facts about the situation.  Something like "I didn't get the opportunity to meet XX.  He was unable to check it due to a personal issue but we hope he'll come another time."   Facts that do not disclose the personal nature of his situation.

BTW, taking a 3rd party booking is against Airbnb policy.  You run the risk of not being covered by them and their Host Guarantee by doing this.
