security deposit

THIS IS HORRIFIC!!!!!!!!  Why can't I get a hold of anybody at airbnb to get a straight answer?  I have security deposits, clearly, set up on my page and have for a while.  Why do I have to contact the guest directly to send me money??? Why can't I just make a claim agains the security deposit airbnb is supposed to collect for me. HOW does that happen?  Why is this so impossible to figure out and why do their help items just take you around in circles where you can never get to a place to actually submit a request to airbnb or speak to a live person. This is so complicated and ridiculous!

@Iris74  Your frustration is clear but I want to try to understand what is frustrating you.  If you are making a claim for damaged caused by the guest, the process is to contact the guest and state the damages.  If the guest accepts responsibility, then you make a claim through the Resolution Center and Air BNB can see that the guest agrees with your claim.  If the guest does not agree, and you still want to make the claim, you will have to provide information that will support your claim.

Now, is this your understanding of how to proceed?  You don't really need to speak with Air BNB if you just follow the steps for the Resolution Center, however, if you wish to contact Air BNB by phone, the phone number for the US is 855 424 7262.  Good luck!

I am furious.  I cannot find either where to just get in contact with AirB&B to make a claim about damaged property in my home. Being brought around in circles.

I agree with you....

the definition for obtaining a refund via the damage deposit is vague....(for example in the small print in 2016 it says that Airbnb does not g'tee to obtain damage money from a guest !!)

And trying to get in touch with a human at Airbnb.....just discovering a tel. number is an expedition in my view.

Airbnb needs to change and be more 'open and honest' with hosts in my view, including providing the Airbnb contact tel number on EVERY reservation.

I have to agree with you Iris! It is very frustrating not being able to even speak to someone at Aibnb ,even online. I think they are an amazing company, and in general very efficient, but PLEASE,

Airbnb, give us an option of being able to contact you!!

@Aisling7 and @Alyson9  There is a guide for contacting Air BNB easily found on this forum under community help.  Here is the link

https://community.withairbnb.com/t5/Community-Help/Contact-Airbnb-A-Community-Help-Guide/m-p/16165#M...

Most questions can be answered either in the Help Center or by asking a direct question in the host forum.  Don't give up!!

@Iris74  How did it go with contacting Air BNB since I gave you the US phone number?  Hope you got it sorted out.

How can I find out if my area is zoned for homestay?

I've had the same frustration.  I tried to make a claim but my guests haven't responded and it keeps saying I have to wait until they do.  I somehow doubt they will.

You need to wait 72 hours and if they do not, you should be able to select the "Involve Airbnb" button.

You don't have wait a long time to file the claim.  Lack of guest response will be assumed as a denial from the guest.  Therefore you must make a case for the validity of your claim.
