Is there a way I can permanently set my profile and notifications (email) in English? As I'm often travlling in foreign countries I need always to swich into English and sometimes I keep receiving notification in the language of the last country I accessed Airbnb site.
I couldn't find an option to set the language permanetly. Any advise/trick?
I am also suffering from this problem. My wife is Japanese and so it permanently makes all my emails from Airbnb in Japanese.
I searched but could not find a fix. I managed to contact Airbnb support (its really hard) and they fixed something, and my emails arrived in English.... for about 3 weeks, then they switched back to Japanese.
Airbnb - please fix as it is a real PITA at the moment.

I am having the same question, and as Airbnb does not seem to be very helpful, I am here trying to figure out how to avoid this problem (or what triggers this problem). It is a huge PITA for us too.
I am helping my frient creating a Japanese page, and then they started experiencing this problem.
Since they cannot read Japanese at all, it is very frustrating for them.
Yes, the Airbnb fixed it just like they did it to you, and yes, they got another Japanese notification recently.
As the time when the notification was when I was editing the Japanese paged, I thought....
"If a notification comes through while I am working on the Japanese page, it comes in Japanese"??
But as you do not have a Japanese page, this is not the case....
Does your wife look up Airbnb in Japanese?

Ya, they should have a field where we can set up the language,
or more easily pull the information where we set up our country and currency, right?

A few questions for you, as I am having the same problem.
Does your wife look up Airbnb in Japanese, on www.airbnb.jp?
Did she look up any listing made in Japanese?
For some reason my Airbnb app was in Spanish (booked travel in MX shouldn't matter?).
Anyway, I fixed it.
Uninstall app from iOS.
Go to computer browser, log into Airbnb, go to setting and select English... SAVE
Reinstall app
It worked for me. But no idea if step above mattered or coincidence.

This is a big problem for me too. I also want the SMS messages sent to me in the correct language. We speak French and English and that is what is set in the profile so our guests know that we speak either language, but everything I get from Airbnb is in English. How can I change my profile so it sends me all the email messages and SMS in French?
I have the same problem , each time I loving from other country it changes email notifications language accordingly , I raised a ticket today to siring support and waiting their answer be Ouse there is nothing in the settings which can change or fix this, it's annoying and it should be fixed by Airbnb immediately

I have exactly the same problem. Email notifications come in Italian. My language is set to english. I do not even speak italian... No idea how to fix this. AirBnb?
Same problem for us, we are in Thailand and rent apartments in Thailand but we want
language notifications in English as not all staff speak Thai. We change it in Profile, and for maybe one day we get English, then it changes back to Thai!!? Really frustrating. Does airbnb read these forums? I actually told te last phone rep about it and she acted surprised like I was first to mention it and had no answer but said would tell tecj people but a week later, still same issue!?

Same problem here. Everything was setup in english and was received for a while in english until one of the property managers downloaded the airbnb app in polish language > switched all airbnb communications in polish.
Nothing available in settings to set it back to english... I may try to uninstall the app and re-install from an english speaking device to check if that would reset the default language...
My profile language preference keeps getting reset from English to Russian. I have no idea why. I've never been to Russia and no one that I know of who prefers Russian has used my account. Given how important communication is in transactions like this, it seems like a pretty critical problem for AirBnB to fix. Anybody out there, AirBnB???
