Is there a way I can permanently set my profile and notifications (email) in English? As I'm often travlling in foreign countries I need always to swich into English and sometimes I keep receiving notification in the language of the last country I accessed Airbnb site.
I couldn't find an option to set the language permanetly. Any advise/trick?
You can call them on 44 203 318 1111 but I told them about it a week ago but nnothing has changed yet!?

I have no idea why they are doing this; Google does the same. Is it called smart? People won't become a language expert simply because s/he just arrived a foreign country. So many feedbacks and they are not listening. Sigh. And what's the point to have the forum if you are not listening to customers?

Just to add to the conversation, we are also suffering from this problem. We are hosts in Japan but prefer receiving email communications in English, and have set our Preferred Language to English numerous times, but it always automatically goes back to Japanese. We use both the Airbnb website and app in English, so it would presumably not be an issue with the app; it seems to me that our location is simply overriding our personal settings. We reported the issue directly to customer service on December 19th of last year, and while the person we spoke with tried to be helpful and suggest some solutions, absolutely nothing worked. Our original support case was closed and the last message we received said while Airbnb would be looking into the problem, no timeframe for a resolution was available.
We hope Airbnb's tech support team will give this issue the priority it deserves. It is obviously a bug.
yea, this is super annoying. I tried deleting my cookies and to no avail. Anyone have a solution yet? Where is Airbnb in this conversation?
same here ... really annoying to have to scroll down each time to change the language on the website ... my profile says "English, French", it keeps setting Airbnb's website in Dutch (when in Brussels/BE) or German (when in Berlin/DE) :'(
This is a really annoying problem. I have my phone language set to Italian for learning purposes and it causes the language in my airbnb profile to change to Italian every time I open the app.

If you want to use English in a browser, I know what to do. Try the Canadian site (www.airbnb.ca). Accessing this site seems to automatically set the language to English and stays in English during the session. This trick worked for me and hope it would work for you, too. Good luck!

Just like all of you, I had sms/mail messages in Italian, since I received an invitation from my Italian friend.
If you still experience troubles with notifications in Russian/Italian/German/Klingon/Murloc or whatever language was set by Airbnb, you can follow this path:
Enter your airbnb site and log in.
Click your your profile (top right corner).
Click 'edit profile'.
Find 'Preferred Language' and check if it is set to correct.
If it is set to Orcish or Chinese, just set it to English.
If it is set to English but you receive messages in hindi regardless, set it to some other language you can understand and then set back to your spoken language.
The problem is that they put the language setup into your profile instead of putting it into settings tab, which is more obvious.

Pavel's trick unfortunately still doesn't solve it for me.
My main page loads up in English after having saved the changes, true. However, whenever I click on a listing, the new page opens up in French (I'm in Montreal). Ridiculous.
AirBnB, this thread has been open for two years. Fix it.

As weird as it is I solved my problem with language with changing the ending on www.airbnb.com website. If you would for example want a polish language to appear on your web, change it into www.airbnb.pl, if you would want russian, try www.airbnb.ru and english simply www.airbnb.com ... After initial login the language stays like that and you should recieve all e mails in your chosen language.
I find this weird solution for a problem and dont understand why would it work like this, but ok. Note that this also changed my profile picture on every website and I needed to set a new one.
