When we heard about airbnb we could not wait to get started.so we hurriedly put together our listing. we are english living permanently here in france, without a good understanding of french. so we set it up in english.am i right to think that when a french person looks at our listing he or she will have to transate it?am i right to think it would have been better to set it all up. in french?we would both love to hear what you think.

You can translate it yourself and place both English and French versions on the listing.  If it is only in English you will attract English speakers and vice versa.  As an English speaker I would choose listings I could best understand to make my inquiries.

If you are comfortably bilingual you can state that in the listing and more guests will be attracted to your place.  Of course, any guest can translate anything on line but sometimes the on line translations don't convey exactly what you wanted to say so it is better that you provide the text in both languages.

If you only want to get inquiries in English, leave the English as the main language.  Otherwise you may find yourself trying to communicate in French with prospective guests.

I see a cancellation on your listing.  You should study the consequences and details of host cancellations and try very hard never to do this again.  It might be wise to put an explanation on the listing exonerating yourselves.

Hurredly worries me, spend some time making sure your listing is what you want and understanding how ABB works.

A guest always has the option to have the English translated into French (in this case) by the Airbnb system.

If a guest chose to set up his own guest profile in French and is looking at an English description, a button appears that says something like "Translate this description in French".

Thank you again Bob.
