strange request for long term accomodation by host

Hello Dears,

I am a student in Germany and I want to change my room.

I found some accommodation outside of the AirBnB and contact with the host by my mail.

After exchanging some messages, the host request me to create an account in the Airbnb and he said that

he needs these:

"please send me the following details:
Full name and address:
Shipping address:
Airbnb username:
ID or Passport Copy:

After I’ll receive your details I will forward them to Airbnb and I will proceed the order. Airbnb will contact you with all the details that you need, to complete this deal. Waiting your email with the requested details.
Best regards,
David"

It looks strange.

I asked him to give me the address of his advertisement in Airbnb and he replied this:

"The apartment not appear on their web site, because there appear only short term and vacantion apartment!

I need your data to make the booking invoice with airbnb, so they can send you the invoice per email regarding my apartment rent!

Thank you"

Is it normal for long-term accommodations or not?

How can I make my renting procedure safe?

Your potential host, or scammer it seems , is making it up on the spot as they go along.

Best you drop this contact, either look then book on the official airbnb site or use channels via your place of study to find appropriate accomodation.

@Amir27  @Elena87 is right on target.  Do not respond to the "host".  You can look at many FAQ that warn travelers using Air BNB to stay within the system.  It is not perfect, but it does offer some security.  Good luck!
