I have an upcoming guest in about 2 weeks. I need to request payment for the city taxes but I get a message that that is not possible because the guest has not paid in full.
I have searched help articles high and low and can not even find the terms of a split payment.
So when does Abnb collect from the guest and, presumably, let me request funds?
Hi @Amy38
Nothing has changed for host - you still get paid as before within a few days of the guest arriving.
My understanding is guests need to pay in full a month before arrival.
I didn't quite understand the point about city taxes.
Why not give Airbnb a call I am sure they will be able to help you.
Hello @Amy38 ,
What is the status of the reservation (see list of reservations) , does it say anything else then "accepted" ?
best regards, Emiel
@Amy38, if you are referring to the "Pay Less Up Front" option the guest may have used, the second half of the payment should be taken about 2 weeks before the scheduled check-in date.
But that is completely irrelevant to your desire to request funds.
On AirBnB, hosts don't request funds; the money you are due is sent according to the schedule set by AirBnB. Normally your share of the money is sent to you on the day after the guest checks in.
There is some different timing if you are a brand new host: funds are not sent until 30 days after the day your first booking was confirmed. After this 30 days is over, funds are always sent the day after check-in.
You do not have to do anything to initiate the transfer of funds; it happens automatically.
If you look at your Transaction History, and choose "Future Transactions" it will show you exactly when AirBnB plans to send your money to you, and how much.
@Matthew285 Hosts do request and receive funds for several things. I collect the hotel taxes due inTN through this option and have been for a long time
That is what the “Request money” button in the reservation is for....and even suggests a couple of pre-selected reasons for the request to choose from.
it is now less than teo weeks until his arrival and the program is still refusing to let me request the funds....never been an issue before.
oh well....time to tweet.
@Helen3@Emiel1 Thanks for the advice and info @Matthew285
@Amy38 ah... yes. *That* kind of request money.
Gotcha. AirBnB should really collect the hotel taxes for you.
It is maddening how they do it for some places and not for others.
@Matthew285. It gets worse, they have just begun collecting State sales tax but not the City hotel tax, so I have to.
Guests have been fine with it but now that one item shows on their bill as taxes, a second one is going to irk.
Thanks for the 2 week collection info...I am just shy of that for this reservation.
My question is also when does Airbnb ask for the final payment from renter on a reservation?
I am used to other sites where I am able to collect final payment 30 days prior to arrival.
