AIRBNBPLUS

Why why why!!!

My assessment was unprofessional and the feedback ridiculous and frankly hurtful.

The original ethos of airbnb appears to being lost.

I feel that not being a plus listing will now reduce my listing to a second rate one!!! After 220  5 star reviews. What was the point of Superhost and how ridiculous that a Superhost cannot be a Airbnb plus because they don't have 5g wifi and kitchen cupboards!

Very sad at the moment and also worried about my business.

I have built my business over 3 years and all.is going very well .

I am now distraught this will affect my visibility on the platform and all that was great about airbnb is being homogenised and algorithm led.

Well well just been told that I don't fulfill US Standards....like apparently many UK listings!!!!! All I can say if joining airbnbplus means loss of creativity and heart and soul bring it on. How can not having Wi-Fi which all guests know before booking make you ineligible for a plus listing!! I urge UK hosts to REJECT THIS SCHEME.

@Carol28

In May 2017 I was invited to join the 'Select' listing category which was being trialed at the time and as it was call then!

I declined for a few reasons! Things were going pretty well as they were, and 'select' gave the impression that the listing was going to be something special and along with that would bring guests who were infinitely harder to please......they would want something extra special.

Do I need to be saddled with guests for whom nothing is good enough....not in your life! And decliniung that offer was the best thing I have done....I am fully booked now month after month, I don't need any more!

Don't be angry, just be you Carol and there will be a steady stream of guests at your door. Don't try to be someone you are not....stick with genuine, hey!

Cheers......Rob

It's a shame. I agree 100% on what you're saying. Pictures are also really bad.

Their is some irony in the approach to 'being part of the community' but 'want my listing to make more / be more visible than everyone else'.

Sadly we can't all afford shiny new apartments custom furnished to meet the plus photographic standards. Airbnb keeps trying to move away from its strength providing reasonable priced accommodation in less visited neighborhoods, to creating uniform hotel rooms 😞

@Carol28 I looked at your listing(s) and they are simply too fantastic and brilliantly designed to be accepted by 'Plus' - where everything is homogenous and unrelentingly white and appear to be 'designed' by former Pottery Barn and Ikea warehouse employees. You really dodged a bullet by not qualifying for the program (in my opinion), like others here are saying. That your place is rejected as a 'Plus' listing perfectly illustrates why the 'Plus' program appears to be an epic fail. I've been saying for months and months that what *should* have happened, and what would have made the most sense, is to identify the most successful, most beloved Super Host listings and feature those prominently in searches - Call it 'Super Host Plus', as I think Fred here once mentioned.

Also, many 'Plus' hosts / candidates also report that the photographs of their listings are inexplicably bad or nonsensical (such as, one host shared her spa / hot tub and her lake view were not even photographed well, and were not featured prominently in her listing, and a terrible photo was used as the cover photo); also, the fact that you lose complete control of your listing and how you want to present it would make it a no-go for me if it ever came to my small beach town. I've sold out every month since opening 18 months ago, and I did all the design and marketing myself. In my opinion, becoming a 'Plus' listing and losing control of how my listing is presented would be a deal-breaker - I would never do it.

So, this is a time to celebrate and embrace this 'rejection'. You will still get lots of bookings, and I can only hope that I will be lucky enough to stay there one day myself!

Dear Rebecca ,

Many thanks indeed for your support and kind words! Much needed as the feedback I read this morning really rocked me! My estimation of airbnb has now plummeted and that is so so sad.

I completely agree about the loss of control and too be fair even if they had welcomed me with open arms once I realised that I too would have declined anyway.

Much continued success for you too.

All the best

Carolx

It appears that the 'Plus' is more successful in some parts of the world than others.  I Just read all the comments from all over the World!  I have 2 Plus guest houses in Santa Monica, California and couldn't be happier.  Airbnb approached me and I didn't pay them or the photographer a penny.  Business is wonderful.  Photograher was great.  Couldn't be happier.  Guest feedback regarding 'Plus' is they feel like 'Plus' listings can be trusted more.

Airbnb offered for me to join airbnb plus for free... I'm starting to think it might be a waste of time... my listing is similar to yours... And I never thought about the fact that I would loose control over my photos etc...

@Carol28 your listing is beautiful!

Dear Olga, I wouldn't recommend it as my experience with the airbnb team was so bad. I really don't think they get individual and quirky..  which is very sad because that is what I thought airbnb was all about. They now want to send their designers and their photographers to our places!! Also my Cabin is fed by a natural spring and one of the criteria was to offer filtered or bottled water!! It has made me change my mind about airbnb and am very sad about the whole thing. Good luck with your place and listing. Xx
