Add extra day/s to current stay. What's the best way to do it?

Hi, what is the best way for a guest to add an extra day to a current stay (they are here now)? Should they just book again (and I can adjust the price so they don't pay cleaning fee twice). Or can they just change the reservation -- even though it's already been paid for? Not sure if it can be changed at this point. Thanks for the help! I searched and couldn't quite find the best way to do this 🙂

I've actually found that the best way to do this is to call Airbnb. Last time I tried it, the software nearly gave up and uninstalled itself.

@Jennifer1351,

You or the guest can chan ge the reservation, that's the most common way to extend a reservation. It also prevents the cleaning fee (if any) will be charged again.

The guest will be charged for the difference in payment. Goto HELP section and enter "change reservation" as a search key and you will see all detailed information.

best regards,

Emiel

Thank you @Emiel1!

If the guest is already staying with me and wants to add on more days I will always give them a little bit of a discount since it requires a lot of less work on my part. On the guest messaging screen or the reservation list drop down menu you can click 'change reservation.' Put in the new date and whatever price you want to charge (it will not affect the existing reservation.) It will show up as a 2nd reservation with a second payment and the guest will get the opportunity to review you twice.Screen Shot 2019-01-23 at 11.41.07 AM.png

@Emilia42,

I have to correct you on this: if a confirmed reservation is changed, like extending it, there will be no 2nd reservation and also no option for the guest to review twice. But there is an additional payment in Transaction History for the same reservation number. It's just one reservation with changed details and with one review possibility: when the reservation has ended.

Best regards,

Emiel

@Emiel1 I wasn't able to add a day to the reservation. I couldn't click on the day on the calendar. I do have another guest coming when she checks out, would that affect it? Should I ask guest to try to make the change/add a day?

@Emiel Hmm, I have never been able to add a day to the reservation without it creating a new reservation automatically when I change the dates. Before the guest arrives, yes. But not when the reservation is currently happening. I'll look at the process next time it happens to me.

Thank you @Emilia42, that's good to know! Thanks for the image, too!

Having trouble changing/extending the reservation. Tried to make the change, couldn't . I do have another guest booked the day she wants to leave, would this affect a change/ adding a day?

-also: She wants to add the day tomorrow. I have one day advanced notice for bookings. I would think that means she can book for tomorrow. Just thinking maybe this is why I couldn't change it?

@Jennifer1351

If a reservation is already in progress, you must now call Airbnb to amend the booking.

Thank you @Susan17

Yeah @Mel101 and @Susan17 have got the right idea. In theory what @Emilia42 says should work and all the help guides tell you all you have to do is go to 'Change or Cancel' in the message stream, click Change and put in the required details and all will be ok......sorry, it won't! Sometimes it will create a whole new reservation deleting the existing one, sometimes it will not accept the change, it will tell you the dates you are trying to change are not available.....It is just too much of a hassle!

Get onto Airbnb support on +1-415-800-5959+1-855-424-7262 (toll-free)....you are a Superhost so you will get prompt attention and get them to alter the reservation for you.

Jennifer, this should be simple but, alas it's not!

Cheers.....Rob

EDIT:  When you get onto CX use your registered Airbnb phone (the one you receive notifications on) to contact them on. The system will compare the incoming number with the data base and if there is a match it will assess you are a superhost and put you through to the first available CX in the world wherever that may be Canada, Dublin, San Francisco or Manila. If you use a different phone you will not be recognised and simply put in the phone queue.

Thank you @Robin4! That's what I discovered. You'd think it would be easy, since it's good for everyone. But, alas, no.
