A couple of days ago, we received a last minute booking, a man alone for two nights, that we accpeted. When the man arrived, there was no evident problem about him. He was coming back fron a long trip in asia, so he seemed a bit jet lag but still stay a few minute with us to talk a little. After a night without problem, I went to work and came back home aound 4pm. My partner was already there, quite stress because our guest was acting weird (wearing only a t-shirt, his pant and a sock) and shouting loudly and insulting someone on the phone. One our rules that we speciefied on our add is that we wanted a quiet guest as we are living in a building with families and young children.
After he calm down a little, I knocked on his door, and tried to tell him he couldnt behave like that and if he needed to shout at someone he would have to do it outside our building. He shout at me to don't bother him even more than what he was already, that he was in holidays and renting a private room and closed the door on my face.
After a quick discussion with my patner we decided to wait for him to calm down again to tell him to leave, as he was still shouting and insulting on the phone and has been really rude to me (and we even are thinking that he might have been under drogs). Eventually, we knocked at his door again and start telling him that he had to leave the flat. That is when he start to be very agressive to us, he even grab my partner by the neck with his two hands and pushed him on the wall. I had to grab him too to make him stop. At first he was refusing to leave, shouting again that we had no right, that he had problems and we were heartless. It was quite pathetic coming from a guy that just physically agressed us. So I decided to call the police. Before the police arrived he left (and he left the keys behind).
Luckilly, as he was quite agressive before we talked to him that second time, I took a footage of him while he was violant to my partner. Policemen took our report and his details.
I also called airbnb to report him (they should call me back today to take my report) but is there anything else I should do to make sure that guy will never use airbnb again and create problem or agress someone else?
Many thanks,
Ines
It sounds terrifying. Glad that you are safe. You did the right thing to call Police and asked him to leave. What you can do is flag and report the profile and also leave the review on the guest profile.
🙂
Hi,
Thank you for the tip.
Just realise while cleaning our bedroom that he cracked its wodden door 😞
Theres no guarantee he wont book you again. The bad apples just create new profiles or have their friends book for them. AirBnB doesn't use unique identifiers when it comes to creating profiles. So, yes you could very well see that person again. Considering they are coming from Asia the likelihood is very small though.
