Hey Host, If your like me your feeling abused by Airbnb. Host choose the strick cancelllation policy because we are taking the risk not the guest and certaintly not Airbnb. Airbnb's policy totally disregards the fact we still have to pay mortgage, insurance, property taxes, utilities, yard care, payments on frunishings, appliances and cooking materials, not to mention the fact that city goverment extracts a fee for even being a host upfront
Going further, they extract a fee from us if we cancel a reservation. Yet a guest is exempt?
Now if they did something productive for us (the Host) like leave our listing active for that same 48 hours, and allow potentiel guest to bid our rental rate up and guest knew they could lose the reservation if they were not willing to be the higest bidder THAN at least I would feel like they had some concern for me as the host. Or better yet require the guest to pay a cancellation fee that we the host receive in full. Say 25% than the guest as skin in the game also.
Not only is Airbnb, constantly trying to get us to lower our rental rates, now they want us to take our listing and gamble where the host is the only loser in the game.
Yes you are correct they did not ask us our advise.
Why pray tell are guest not requried to acknowledge the long list of bills a host is paying so that they understand we have a lot on the line, to make these places available for them to start with.
Its time that we the host remind Airbnb, we are 50% of this equation. No one likes to be misused. By saying nothing we give them a stamp of approval. Host please say this is not OK. Its wrong peiord.
(I said nothing when they changed the policy that children should not be charged an additional guest fee. They use water, towels, bedding, and require more cleaning... dear host tough you have to let the little angles stay for free.)
