Airbnb Policy Failure

I am a host.

I had a booking and advised the guest that there had been a maintenance problem with the property.

I offered the guest the opportunity to cancel.

The guest chose to do so.

Airbnb has now recorded a review that I cancelled. This is false but there is no facility to address this.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Did you receive a request with the choice to "cancel" or "decline" the booking.

If you clicked cancel---YOU cancelled the booking not the guest.

No it did not.

I accepted the booking and the damage to the property happened later.

I thought to do the right thing by advising the guest and gave her the option to cancel, which she did.

I think the word 'offered' and 'option' is interesting. You merely wrote to the guest that perhaps they should consider canceling because of a maintence problem? If so, how did the Airbnb program 'read' such a simple word exchange as a 'request to cancel by the host'? Which is what ended up happening, as far as Airbnb is concerned. Or did the guest cancelled and maybe the reason they gave was that the host asked them to? Just wondering for future reference.
