Why am I paying the price when I followed the rules?
Is this in regards to the same situation with the other thread you started? I asked you a couple questions over there.
I only asked one question. I really tried to accomadate these guest but they refused. I am new to Airbnb and am having problems commucating. No phone numbers to ask questions. This is Mardi Gras weekend my greatest demand and now it is blocked by Airbnb. I followed their instructions.

Can't help you in any way without more info. What was the situation that caused you to cancel? Did you ask the guest to cancel and they refused? If so, why wouldn't they cancel forcing you to cancel? Did you contact airbnb before cancelling and explain the problem? What rules are you saying you followed? Airbnb is very clear that if you cancel the dates will be blocked. This is to prevent hosts from cancelling just because they have a better booking. There needs to be a reason and you need to contact airbnb and have them cancel it so the dates aren't blocked. It's ALWAYS best to try and get the guest to cancel on their end. If the guest was unhappy, you stated on the other thread that you tried to accommodate the guest but were unable to. What was the problem the guest was having and what steps did you take to accommodate them?
Now I can't read responses. Why is this so hard.

@Sharon563 you canceled a reservation that is why your dates are blocked. It is not hard at all. I would suggest reading the Terms&Conditions on Airbnb before starting to host so that you know how to handle certain situations.
I tried to give them a discount for this weekend off normal price for this weekend. I did not know that I was on auto accept. I connected Airbnb and they told me what to say to them word for word and they declined. I am not commuter savy and am 74 yrs old. Every thing I have is in this house. The dates of Mardi Gras are not known really early. I gues I can chalk this up as a loss.

I still don't understand what caused you to cancel the booking. Why did they refuse the discount? Why did you offer it in the first place?

ok, well I'm trying to help here but getting little info from you. I still have no idea what was the cause of the problem with this guest that caused you to cancel. Can you explain the situation a little better? What was the guest upset about? Why did you offer a discount and why was it refused? Did you ask them to cancel on their end? What was it that airnbnb told you to say and why did they tell you to cancel? Many question but no answers.
