We were traveling with a toddler and I was too busy to respond to a reservation request. Airbnb has taken upon itself to permanently block the dates on my calender despite only giving me 24hrs to respond. I am personally affronted as it is a violation of my rights. No cancelation has happened here. Airbnb is going down the drain by treating guests >> Superhosts. What can we do to get Airbnb to address this?
@Julia637 This is the first time that i am reading such a situation happening to a host.Have you tried to contact Airbnb to ask them why have they block your calender? On the other hand i understand that you were traveling but next time i would advice you to snooze your listing whenever you are on a trip in order to avoid such problems from happening again.Good luck!!!
I called Airbnb and the very rude customer service guy said well this is the way the settings are set up right now, they can't do anything about it. He then went on to challenge why I could not respond in 24hrs, was I on the road the whole time etc.? I don't think he understands how tiring it is to be hauling a 3rd trimester pregnant belly and cranky toddler on a road trip without access to a laptop or PC. I found his attitude dismissive and he flatly refused to give out his last name.
I found the whole exchange extremely upsetting for a host, especially since I've been a Superhost for many quarters now. It seems like all the talk about being "better" is a facade, not unlike another tech platform we are familiar with.
@Julia637 They created the Superhost program but always forget to create a Super customer care program.Keep calm and happy hosting!!!
@Julia637 Try them on Twitter @airbnbhelp. They are generally better there.
I'm with @Oomesh-Kumarsingh0 though: if you're travelling and you know you can't respond within the 24 hours, snooze your listings. Also, if you don't have the app for your phone, download it. You don't need a laptop or a computer to respond to guests.
As a guest, I wouldn't think it was great to wait 24 hours for a response. Snooze your listing if you can't respond in a timely manner, it's easy.
