I am fairly new to this and Air B N B say that they protect us against theft and property damage however having read through a few posts ti seems that things do go missing in people's houses and there is nothing hosts can do about this unless we the hists have home insurance. Also it's hard to prove things that go missing in some instances which now makes me wary about renting my place out.
What exactly do Air B N B protect us aginst?
How can we prove something goes missing if it does?
Was thinking of photoigrpahing expensive items in my flat so I have a record of what is in it.
Any sugggestions welcome.
Thanks.
Your first assumption is wrong and then everything else does not follow.
I guess the thing to do is store expensive stuff away.
I looked up the Air BNB Host Protection in the Help Center (highly recommend you look at this) and the insurance plan is a liability insurance plan meaning should your guest get injured and sue you. Doesn't cover losses by theft. I think many hosts think it covers loss. Your own insurance should cover you unless there is an exclusion related to short term rental. Security deposit would cover provable damage if you have enough listed on your property. Perhaps you should remove valuables from your rental, which is also suggested by Air BNB.
It would be unusual for unexpalined disappearances to be covered in properties used for rental.
Make sure your home insurance covers you for Airbnb. Many don't!!!
