Airbnb refusing to payout for a guest's stay over a month ago

Guest initially booked 2 nights and requested for an additional night a day later. I accepted the request, Airbnb confirmed it, and 3 nights were reserved on my calendar. After the guest's stay, we exchanged 5 star reviews, and I noticed that payout was stuck a few days later. I contacted Airbnb and they said they failed to receive payment for the additional night my guest requested for so they haven't paid me anything for his stay. They also confirmed they have already received payment for the initial 2 nights and are only missing the additional night. They said they cannot provide a payout until guest pays for his entire reservation.

Sounds like they had a bug on their end when they failed to receive payment from my guest. Their system should have caught that and prevented the additional night from being confirmed.

Any ideas what I should do?

 I had to escalate a similar situation with Airbnb customer service in order to get paid for a guest who extended his stay twice. I was very frustrated that Airbnb claimed that although the guest had excepted the alteration and claimed that they had to sort things out with Airbnb regarding the credit card payment,  airbnb was not diligent on their side to make sure that payment was made before the extended reservation started. Furthermore it took Airbnb almost a week to issue the payment for the extension to me and they made me feel like it was my problem to collect from the guest. Very frustrating.   In my opinion, Airbnb should not approve an extension until after they have collected the funds from the guests.

agreed! I wish that AIrbnb collected ALL payment up front + security deposit. Then issued out the money to the host.

Id just contact Airbnb and tell them you want your money or at least an airbnb credit. Alternatiely you can request payment from guest by the request money feature. I have missed payments dating back years that are still sitting in my payout account for additional one or two days. I didnt notice it then because I had 5 listings going at once. Its a shame that Airbnb doesnt authorize payment when guests extend their stay.
