Alteration request

Hello!

I have a guest staying tomorrow but I have made an alteration to the booking as they only booked for two adults but their two children (aged 2 and 4) are coming also. I therefore altered the booking to reflect 3 guests instead of two, I sent this alteration request 4 days ago, with no response yet. What can I do? I have made contact with airbnb but no resolution or reply from guest yet.

Thanks so much...

In help under the section "Can children Travel" the policy states "You'll still need to disclose the total number of guests, including infants and children, accurately when making a reservation request" .

Not accepting your changes, that accurately reflect the number of guests, is grounds for cancelation.  Taking this hard line may not be the best option,  hopefully you can retify the situation through discussion and stll get your booking.

Also, I am assuming you have a child and family friendly listing.

Good Luck.

Regards

You could write to guest and tell them they need to accept the alteration or the reservation will be cancelled.

But, I am wondering if it is an Airbnb glitch and the guest is not receiving the alteration, because I have the same problem, the guest asked me to add a second person for two nights but days have gone by without it being accepted. I tried calling Airbnb but gave up waiting for someone to answer. I tried calling guest but it went to voice message.

As suggested just politely remind your guest that they haven't accepted the reservation for the increased number, so it is not confirmed. But also say.....Just let me know if you have not received the amended booking and I will resend it straightaway.

Agree I would call/contact the guest again to remind them they haven't accepted the ammended for the increased number of guests they want to stay.

I would also remind them that they need to confirm this to avoid their reservation being cancelled.

If they do turn up without accepting the change, I would make sure they accept it before they settle in or you may find a problem getting them to do so.

P.S.  Having had no reply I also sent the guest an email explaining what they needed to do  - i.e. Click ACCEPT the alteration.

I also wrote again for the third time (seems they missed the prior two times) exactly what it meant, and outlined what the charges were for in a message to them on Airbnb  and added the math:  original booking + the alteration (additional guest for two nights)  =  new total (not including Airbnb fees).

They have accepted and they also sent me a message thanking me for explaining what they needed to do as they did not understand that any action was needed on their part.
