Hi
I had a month blocked out on my calender but a booking has appeared in it. I have instant booking on so had no option to refuse before. If I now cancel, I will lose my superhost status. Has anyone had this problem before? Have a done something wrong?
All help/ suggestions gratefully received.
Lizzie
No Elizabeth, you have not done anything wrong! This is a glitch in the airbnb programming that has been going on for more than a year now, and rather than try and fix it they are just patching over it when problems arise. DO NOT CANCEL this booking Elizabeth, get onto Airbnb and explain that you had the dates relating to this booking blocked and they will take care of it from there and either relocate the guests or refund their payment.
This is a frequent problem and I can't for the life of me understand why they don't just fix it instead of mucking guests and hosts around by having to go through this charade every time it crops up.
The problem is related to your rolling booking window. You have possibly set your booking window to three months and although you have blocked dates beyond that three month period, as the rolling calendar comes to those dates it un-blocks them. Best to set your booking window to 'All future dates' and then the rolling window does not come into play and dates that you set as blocked will remain blocked.
Get onto Airbnb in the UK on 02033181111 and they will sort it out for you.
Cheers.....Rob
Hi @Lizzie4
Yes happened to me. Give AIRBNB a call. They will be able to see if your calendar was blocked and contact the guest to cancel the booking.
If you don't have the contacts 2nd post Community Help or Google for the number.
I just had the same problem and nobody answers the phone!
Try them on social media
Yes, we recently noticed that if you have dates blocked then change your general price, the blocks will be unknowingly removed. Huge problem.
Best,
Jody
I have had this same problem numerous times. Dates I blocked somehow changed to available, and then guests wanted to reserve. I don't have instant booking, so I've had to spend time explaining to guests that the place is not available, and then I have to decline the invitation. This sure isn't the way to do business!
Why doesn't Airbnb fix this?!
Have just had the same thing happen where I had dates blocked outside the rolling 3 months and didn't realise they are made available automatically as the booking window rolls out. Had no choice but to disappoint a guest and cancel an instant booking. Was ss disappointed as I lost superhost status and got all the penalties. Have since turned instant book off which is a shame as I know guests like it. Good news is I rang AirBnB and after explaining the situation they said it's a known issue and reversed all the penalties. But surely they can fix this issue. I am still working to find another date for the affected guest and have aoffered them a free weekend.
