Booking problem

I have recently had a problem.

A guest wanted to book in but was asked to scan in her ID. When she did this (she has done this before) the Airbnb website wouldn't accept it, so she could not book.

She had to give up in the end.

Also, she asked me whether about my old post code - changed a year ago. I can't see in my guest or host profile where she might have found it.

Can anyone help with either of these problems, please?

Best wishes,

Hazel

You can't solve it from your end, sometimes you just have to let the booking request go. The only way to get her booking is to forgo your requirement that all guests need a verified ID. The usual problems we encounter are guest's payment profile has expired, and your calendar is blocked for 24 hours until they resolve it. and if they don't do anything, and they are coming the next day, your calendar is completely blocked and you can't even call the CS to get it open. A big system flaw.

Thank you for trying to help, but she did call Airbnb, who could not resolve the problem, and I don't ask for verification- so it was all a bit of a mystery.

Hi @Hazel60

It is the guests total responsibility to ensure that their government ID such as passport driving liscence etc IS accepted on the air bnb site BEFORE they book.

The guest should phone air bnb themselves and get someone to talk them through the process until it is completely successful.

Otherwise as a host you can remove your guest verification requirements before you accept a booking.

Personally I would never accept a booking from a guest who is not verified.

Hi @Hazel60

Perhaps you should think about changing your mind regarding guests  have verified government verification.

At the end of the day it’s your call regarding who you have as a guest in your home.
