Broken items found afterwards

Broken items found afterwards

I found one of my couch's leg broken after a guest departed but she denies having broken anything. It is possible it may be a gradual break after the previous or even one before guest. How do I deal with the situation?

Claim it on your house insurance ?

@Catherine103  Sounds like your broken couch leg may have broken eventually anyway if you are able to see clear signs of abuse of the furniture.  Wear and tear is natural and usually not an insurable event.

@Catherine103 Hey Catherine, there is nothing you can do. You cannot pin it to a particular guest and I am afraid this is one of the consequences of hosting!

There is a resolution department attached to Airbnb but this is not something they would go in to bat for you on.

Catherine, I put a small amount of money aside from each listing and put it into an interest baring account!

It's not a large amount but has grown to a couple of hundred dollars and when I feel the need to replace something that a guest has abused I am not out of pocket....it's just there!

You will hear a lot about host protection schemes but in reality Catherine, forget about that and look after you own issues...you will be much better off

Cheers.....Rob
