Cancellation, rebooking and refund

I had booked to stay in a holiday house and the host has cancelled.  I have now rebooked into another holiday house which costs less.  Does the difference in the amount automatically get credited back to my credit card?

I do not believe so.  You will need to go into your account and request a refund.  Here is an article about this.
