Hi Everyone,
a question about commitment rate- I had one cancelation due to circumstances which airbnb agreed were acceptable (guest was trying to cheat) and they said it won't have effect on my host status, but it seems to influence my comitment rate which is a step away from a perfect 100% which i oh so need to be a super host! what to do? your loyal host from TLV, Av
Hi!
I have exactly the same problem. I had to cancel once and my commitment rate has been stock at 95% for months! And it is the only rate stopping me from 'super host'...
Hope someone can help us! I wonder how it is calculated...
Best,
Sheila
These are both great percentages, you must really enjoy being a host 🙂 Have you been hosting for long?
In terms of achieving Superhost Status, I believe that in terms of the response rate it has to be 90% or higher. There is an article in the Help Center called 'How do I become a Superhost?' which you might find helpful.
Thanks,
Lizzie

My commitment rate is stuck at 96% and this has been already this way over 5 months now. I cancelled 2 reservations 70++ days in advance because I didn't know if I was going to have this place aymore. Does it clear ever or..??
It's stupid because I have 5 full starts and 100% in everything else.
@Julie142 Hi Julie, the golden rule is you must not cancel a guests booking! If circumstances mean you can't accept a confirmed booking you must ask the guest to cancel, or have Airbnb relocate the guest.
When you cancel a guest booking that cancelation will remain visible on your page for as long as you host and you will not be eligible for 'Superhost' status for one year from the date of the cancelation! Airbnb set this strict policy because hosts were cancelling confirmed bookings to chase more lucrative hosting opportunities and causing enormous confusion and travel hardship to potential guests.
Julie, you have wonderful reviews and don't let those cancellations get to you. Once you have served your 'penance' that commitment rate will rise and you will once again become eligible for Superhost status....keep up the good work....cheers.....Rob
Hi Rob!
I'm Maxine ** from Eastwood Quezon City Philippines. I have the misfortune to cancel two bookings from Instant Book (I was a newbie then and didn't know it has serious consequences). So far I have host 10 and I have consistent 5 star reviews. I cancelled the Instant book last February 2016. Would that mean I can be eligible again on February. I was sadden by this because I really aim to be part of the Superhost community. I will be adding more units and I really enjoy what I'm doing.
Thanks and hope to hear from your wisdom. 🙂
Thank you Robin I got the information I was searching for through your answer to the issue.
Thanks again...Mahmoud
Hello Lizzie,
It happen me the same problem, i had one cancel in July that it was one day reservation, i done my best to suggest another of my houses but nothing. I am one the greatests hosts in Crete, Greece. i think that i deserve to have the supehost status for thi reasson. One sollution that i suggest to change is that, do not cancel more that one time in a year prior 3 months to the booking for example, or 2 time, one 2 months before and one 5 months before, something like that.
I will be glad to find a sollution, Manolis from Crete!
I've had a similar issue come up where my Superhost status has disappeared due to a scheduling snafu. Two listings, same place: whole house rental booked and then someone instant booked before I could block the individual room rate rental. At that time, I called Airbnb immediately and they "fixed it." Business as usual.
Now months later, Airbnb has determined our 99% commitment rate (we have over 68 reviews, 4.9 overall rating, and 100% response rate...and have been hosting since 2011) isn't enough to qualify as a Superhost anymore. On the phone with them now...very confused and frustrated!
Hi, I'm the same. I have one cancellation 1 cancellation from 113 bookings. That's 99.11%! So have to have that for a year? I've had people cancel on me a few times!
Danny
I am new with 19 successful reviews. Told them that I will have to cancel someone's. They said ok but they reduced my commitment rate to 96%!!!!!!. When shall I get back my rate? In a year???
