Confused about setting availablity

I am new to hosting and have a question.  If I make three days available, say Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, does that mean someone can stay three nights and leave on Thursday, or does that mean they can arrive on Monday and have to leave on Wednesday?

Think not days, but nights. In your example someone can book 3 nights, check-in (arrive) on Monday and check-out (leave) on Thursday.
