A guest checked out and I noticed a red stain on my white wood dresser. She put a greasy McDonalds bag on top of my whtie wood dresser and the red ink on the bag transfered/stained my wood dresser. I have tried numerous things to get the stain to lift. The only way to fix it is to sand the entire top of the dresser and to repaint. The dresser is less then a year old and cost ~$700. I asked the guest for $50 for the repair through the resolution center. She is refusing and told me to try cleaning it with x,y,and x and then said she would give me $15 for paint. I don't own a sander and aren't sure how to refinish it. I will hire someone to fix it. I feel $50 is more then reasonable.
Should I involve airbnb now that she has refused to pay? After reading more about involving airbnb it seems like a silly small amount to involve airbnb for but at the same time the dresser is ruined and needs repairing which I shouldnt have to pay for. Plus, this guest has been such a brat through this entire process it doesnt seem fair she gets away with this with no repercussions.
Please advise-
Thanks
