Differnet pricing?

Differnet pricing?

So, has anyone else realised there is a difference in booking price and the amount that gets collected in the end?
i.e. A guest of mine is shown a price of 777Euro in order to book my place for a specific number of days, while on my dashboard I get a starting income price of 680Euro, that then gets charged an extra 25Euro service fee, to come to a final 655Euro income.

Is that normal? And of course, what does it mean?

Thank you in advance, and sorry if this has already been answered. I could not find anything similar...

Greed is possibly a bit strong Grigoris! Airbnb charges you 3% of your listing rate, now if you take that off your 680 Euros that comes out to the figure you have quoted 655Euro (give or take a Euro)

They also charge the guest a fee for using their service which is quite reasonable, that fee being 12%. If you take 12% off the 777 Euro guest figure that comes back to your 680 Euro listing amount.

Are you begrudging this 12%, the 3%....or both? Do you feel that Airbnb should provide this service of bringing guests in touch with hosts, collecting the money, offering you some sort of protection, providing a large service/back-up network to help with any problems, giving the guest a money back solution if things go wrong....do you think this should all be done for nothing, or a couple of percent?

I can tell you now Grigoris there are not to many purchases that take place in daily life where the margin is less than 15%. Almost every supermarket item you buy will have a mark-up of more than 15%!!

For the service that Airbnb are providing I don't think 'greed' is an appropriate word to use....but then again, I am not you!

Cheers.....Rob

Tbh, yes I beleive that a small percentage is fine, considering the vast amount of people that the site wishes to, and also does mind you, service. With even a small, unique, percentage per "deal" the company would still make a TON of profit. I would definetely and unequivocally believe this to be a "fairer" "deal" between the site and it's users. Because, lets not kid ourselves, the "security" the site provides is used in, what, 0,1% of the times a host and guest "come together"? And I am MORE than generous with that percentile I believe.
As for the rest, yes the "idea" part of the site should be compensated. And it is.

But that's never enough is it?

And yes, I want to believe this should be a much, MUCH, more "fair", and humane world.

But it isn't.
And we get to live in it.
So, since you are not me and I am not you, and we "enjoy" some sort of a "democracy", we are each entitled to our own

opinions.

Glad I could instigate any responce, much more so an opposing one! Thank you for your reply, and have a beautiful day my friend!
