Does Airbnb have recommendations for verifying a guest's cancellation
When we as hosts cancel a guest's reservation we must provide evidence of our emergency situation. My question is what do we as hosts have as reasonable indicators that a guest's (while in residency) leaves early/cancels is legitimate? Background is that I had a guest message me that they had to leave because of an emergency. When I called her to see if there was anything I could do to help, her story was that her friends dog that was left in hometown in a kennel was bit and they must get-back right away. I gave her a refund (I am an animal person). I interpreted it at first telling as an emergency situation but then had second-thoughts.
A guest can cancel anytime subject to your cancellation policy. If they want a refund and your cancellation policy does not allow for it they must send documentation of extenuating circumstances to Airbnb, (or make a complaint backed up by documentation about the property within 24 hours) to qualify for a possible refund.
