Double booked - both my listings

Hello everyone,

 

I have had a listing of a one bedroom in my house for a couple of months now and I decided to also list my entire house for when I am out of town.

 

I had a reservation done for the one bedroom from Thursday Sept 22 (check in at 2pm) to Saturday Sept 24th (check out at noon). I wil be out of town startting that Friday. A few weeks later I recieved a request for the entire house and I approved it but I just realized that the booking for the entire house starts Friday Sept 23rd which is when the other guest will be there as well. Now I have a problem in my hands and the only way I see fixing it is canceling the reservation from the guest that requested last.

 

I thought that Airbnb would sync my calendar and let me know that the request couldnt be done. I don't want to cancel a reservation because I will lose the chance to be a super host but I need to do something ASAP so I the guest can find another place. Anyone has any feedback on what to do?

First, fire your secretary.
If you can get your guests to cancel then neither profile is tarnished. Maybe you could look up some options on Airbnb for your guests that might be preferred. If there's a difference in price you might have to cough a little to keep your side of the street clean.

Communicate with both guests to see if there is any flexibility for either of them.  If the longer term guest can change the reservation to start a day later, then go into the reservation and modify.  You might want to offer an incentive to the longer booking by reducing the rate a little.  If there is no flexibility, see if the shorter booking will agree to be relocated to a comparable space.  If yes then contact Air BNB and request the relocation.  When that happens there are no cancellation costs to either guest or host.

 

Air BNB does not sync calendars between your listings so it is a manual process.  Do not have Instant Book on either listing or you will run into this issue again.  Good luck!!

Good answer.

Air bnb now will sync between two listings on airbnb.  But do not have instant booking on both, because I was double booked due to time delay in sync, of close to two hours.

2 listing, one is Instant Book.

 

Not sure how you could expect the system to know one was a sub set of the other.

 

If you read them both you can see, but that is not what a booking service would check.

Thanks for the heads up, I was going to do exactly the same thing with listing my house & room separately.

Might be best not to. I would like to see the option for type of listing include a way to provide your own description as the choices are not quite right.

This happened to me, I called Airbnb and after quite a bit of conversation they admitted that the calendars should sync, but don't always. They admitted fault, work with me.

And everything is much better now. My calendar does sink, and they took the cancellation off my recordsorry for any miss spellings this is a voice text
