False sense of security

False sense of security

WARNING!!!! Hello fellow Airbnb Super Host that have been deceived into believing our beautiful homes are protected. I wanted to also point out that  thieves  can read our comments and rob  us blind .  Airbnb only gives $256 for damages . I have an open case of $3,545 US dollars  from guests  damaging my wood floors in my 1.2 million dollar home that I’m selling, I did everything that was asked and beyond. I even had video ! I see now reading other complaints this is the amount they give . It’s always the same to shut you up! I’m also a Super Host of 5 years with 100 perfect reviews. This was my first and only claim since 2011!  I am  Shocked how we are treated .  My guest even shot a rap video in my home ( not allowed) and still Airbnb does nothing! We as home owners and hostes need to band together about this unjust treatment. I will now be contacting my lawyer and media regarding this false  sense of security .  Please comment if your feeling the same .

Thank you,

Brigitte

@Brigitte150 Your place, and of course those of many others, is a perfect candidate for one being protected by a true 'Security Deposit' system; a pity Airbnb doesn't have that. In this case however,  I doubt would have done much good with the damage being so extraordinary.

On the other hand, a $1.2 million place which you intent to sell, is running a real risk being listed in Airbnb, based on reality and not on an illusionary 'guarantee' (aka Airbnb's Host Guarantee).

I agree Brigitte, the only way for the everyday people to have a FAIR say is by media and banding together. But I ask, is all this worth it. I think more people (Hosts) will walk with their feet and get out of the hosting business and AirBnB will only be left with the motels etc and be no different to any other Online Tourist Agency.

When was the last time you heard AirBnB offering cheap or free accommodation to people in need. I don't think they have a mission statement any more. There is something about diversity and inclusion, but nothing about giving back to the community. As members surely we should have been consulted when all this changed.
