I think the feedback system on Airbnb is very unfair. I have been running my accommodation for over 10 years with barely an issue. Personally I find most of my guests are 100% happy but don't necessarily leave feedback online - they had a lovely stay so leave it at that. Then you get 2 or 3 that complain because quote " it rained all weekend", "Your 110 year old Cottage does not have airconditioning even though that is quoted in the listing" or "After burning the gas none stop for 3 days it ran out at 11pm at night and I was unable to do anything about it until the next morning!!"
The result of all this is that my listing was penalised for being " not up to scratch" and my whole listing was suspended for 5 days as "punishment"
I truly have a bad taste left in my mouth - it is insulting as a host who bends over backwards to accommodate their guests.
I almost feel like leaving Airbnb entirely.
@Maree6 sorry you have had a hard time recently. Most of your guests seem to be very happy judging by your reviews. I wonder though why the ones who complain seem to do so about the temperature. It sounds from most of your reviews that you are adequately heating it in winter. If, however, you do advertise the cottage as having air con and it doesn't, that would be cause for a valid complaint. Otherwise, I don't know what the negative guests are on about. Some people just like to complain unfortunately.
Temperature can be a tricky issue. I know that, having an big old Victorian house in London, it can be a challenge in the winter when you have guests who expect hotel style heating systems in their rooms. I've even had a guest who got angry because the heating was not on in the middle of summer, because he had decided to take a run in the pouring rain and couldn't be bothered to have a hot shower or put on dry clothes. I gave him a portable heater to keep him happy as I was not about to heat the whole house and then upset other guests. He spent the whole of his stay in a vest top and boxer shorts with the windows open!
Thanks for your support @Huma0 🙂 Nice to know I'm not in this boat alone - much appreciated and warm regards

I agree as well. I've kept my place very budget friendly. Guest said everything great every time I asked. Online complained about tv ..although if he clicked pic..he would be seen it's run by Chromecast with instructions in hous3 manual. I offered to show but he said he didn't need it cuz had a lot reading
Also 3 stars for location..REALLY?? Not fair..check the map before you book. The guy then booked 3 more weeks! Um...Good deal maybe??
