Guest locked himself out

I have a code lock and left a key under the mat. My guest left the condo and left the key inside and locked himself out of the house, as he couldn't figure out how to use the code lock (simply enter the code and the door will unlock).

He got to me after midnight, and I was already asleep. He went to stay at a friends house. At 5AM, I go over and use the code to get inside, which works fine for me.

Do I have to compensate him if I gave him 2 ways to get in, but he locked himself out?
