Guest reviews are useless?

My understanding of how Airbnb works now that you cannot see guest profiles until after you have accepted their booking makes the system for hosts dangerous and unfair. They can see your profile which they need to see to make a judgement on whether your property and occupants of your home is a good fit for them but you are expected to let a random stranger who you may not even be able to tell the sex of from their name into your home. My Airbnb is my family home with three kids, some sort of judgement on who I am willing to let into our space has to be made. I think I am probably going to have to stop hosting, it’s such a shame.

Reviews that other hosts have made will be useless as they can’t be seen until after you have already booked them in!

Good morning Jill

First off, DO NOT INSTANT BOOK! I have no idea why someone would do that. It takes control of who you allow to stay.

We have hosted well over 500 guests and a short note from a prospective guest tells a great deal about them. We ask questions, and expect answers. Explain to your prospective guests your reasoning for your questions. Good people will not be afraid to answer.

We have been so very lucky with our guests and truly enjoy hosting Airbnb guests.

@@Jill463 you can no longer see a guest's profile picture until after they book. However, any written profile information, the written portion of host reviews and any verifications are still visible. You can only see the stars a guest has been awarded after booking if you don't have instant book enabled: that's been the case for about a year.
