Guests and understanding the profiles

Guests and understanding the profiles

I have a suggestion for the website....you know the cute "3 person silhouette" that you Airbnb uses?  I've had two people tell me that they thought they could have 3 guests (when my profile clearly states you can only have 2) because of this symbol. I think it may be due to the placement of it on the profiles (above the guest count). Granted these folks were older than the average user, and not as computer literate, but just thought it was interesting that I had that comment twice within a couple of weeks. Thanks for listening Airbnb!

WOW, so we have moved to a world where people only look at symbols instead of READING!!?!?!  this is the fault of whoever created emojis I think.  hahahaha

Thank god I make sure to write to every guests asking them if they understand my listing is for 1-2 people ONLY.   When they write back saying YES, it proves to me they can still READ.   (hope you giggled)

@Momi0 - right? These were both first-time users and were comforted by the VRBO that they know and love. (although I've never used VRBO I know people who love the old-fashioned phone call and direct payment - if they still even do that!) So, I guess I should take it with a grain of salt, but 2 people within a couple of weeks made me think maybe others were having this issue!

@Kaye0 I hope you weren't taking my post so seriously that you couldn't laugh a bit.  I only wrote that because I have discovered that many people enjoy sending emjois instead of words, then expect my generation to understand what they meant to "write" instead..haha  (thank god I have a 12 year old to explain it to me.

I can tell you that many of us are frustrated with the "children" issue.  The site does not explicity ask parents to choose the option if kids are joining them on their bookings so many of us are surprised to greet them holding babies or toddlers.  They think they don't have to say anything even though the hotels specifically ask how many guests are staying in the rooms....and somehow, parents do remember that their 18 month old is a guest...and some don't.   My listing is only for a PRIVATE room, and yet a family of 3 showed up instead of the 1 guest that booked it. And what did I do?  I greeted them with a smile, then went out and bought a diaper genie for the baby.  Did I mention that my entire family had to listen to this 4 month old infant cry for 2 LONG nights wishing we didn't have school or work the next day. I should have gotten SuperHost for that incident alone. hahaha
